INDIAN VALUE SYSTEM: Still Sustainable?

I still feels a little bizzare when I saw people moving very fastly towards the life of Western world. Sometimes, also it turns out into a smile on my face when at the same time I think of the people living abroad, although slowly , but started moving towards the Indian traditions, cultures & some precious things given by Ancient India iteself to the whole world. A good example here is 'Yoga'. At that time a question arises in my mind, that "Where are we going towards?" or more specifically "Is the Indian Value system still strong enough & not becomes dead in the minds of so called generation "Y" ?

India, is symbolically a synonym of Tradition, Culture & Indian Values. These are the few attributes that came into one’s mind while thinking of INDIA. The tradition rich country have people who inherit these values & culture from their ancestors, which is why we become successful in keeping these precious things with us till today.

But Now, it seems like these things are losing their identity. With the ‘rampant change’ we found everywhere now-a-days, whether economic, political, social, environmental or in Corporate sector, their perception, mindset & values are also changing.

Be it the case of Nuclear family or live-in relationship, or the latest one “Homosexuality”, all these things signifies that we are moving towards Western Culture or somehow wants to incorporate their culture into ourselves, & that’s why we found this as “overlapping of Cultures”.

What all we can say that no. of cases of divorces get increased to over 20-25000, according to research that have been done by HT media. This is the thing that we normally can see in foreign countries where marriage is more like a contract, but we should not forget that in India it is a “sacred relationship” that runs successfully because it is built on ‘mutual trust’ & ‘adjustment factor’ And this is just the beginning. Over the period of time, we have also witnessed that the “sensitivity” factors also tends to decrease among Indians at a rapid rate.

On the other hand, if we look upon the western countries, they are moving towards us. Like, they have started seeing these things very fascinatingly. For example, take ‘Yoga’, which is offered to the world by India, and if you look at the overall trend, you will find that people in abroad are crazy about such things & learning it with full dedication. Madona, Angelina Jolie, Richard Gere, are some of the Hollywood personalities who are practicing it & the followers like them are in numbers. They had started understanding & believing these things because before this no one there knew about such things. This is natural because we always value those things which we don’t have.

Change is good but at the cost of your core competence, definitely not. Thus, need of the hour is to preserve these traditions, values which are like ‘USP’ for India via which we have built our image on the globe. This is like the base of India & if the base shakes, the building will not survive for a longer period.

What you guys say??
